Last Minute Info!

ACA vs. Andalusia
The buses will be leaving at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. We hope the weather won't be too bad!
Mr. Harrell says the band will march the show, even in the rain. Woodwinds will put their instruments away so as not to get ruined. Brass and percussion will be able to play, but all kids will march.

Please don't forget:
  • Band Uniform (all pieces)
  • Change of clothes (for the ride home---uniforms will probably be wet)
  • Transportation Fee
  • Money to eat dinner

We have disposable rain ponchos, but if your child has one that is clear, they will be allowed to wear it. Also, make sure they have warm, dry clothes to change after the game.

NOTE: Students taking the ACT on Saturday will be dismissed after the halftime show. Please see Mr. Harrell to sign-out and let him know with whom you're riding home.

If you have any questions, please call Tracey on her cell at 462-3368.

ACA vs. Andalusia

The Band will be leaving school on Friday afternoon at approximately 2:00 p.m. Your child will need money to eat, as we will be stopping for dinner and to change prior to the game. ACA Band Recaps & Announcements...

Senior Night
This past Friday, October 20th, we honored our Seniors with a reception following the game. Thank you, Jackie Morrison, Special Events Coordinator, and your crew of workers for organizing such a nice reception. You always do a great job! Seniors, Jordan Berry, Katrina Fleeton, Abi Fuller, Sarah Grinstead, Leah Leary, Kyle Lesinger, Hannah Moon and Kristen Walker, we've watched you grow up in band and become the leaders that you are and we will miss each one of you! We wish you much happiness and success in all your future endeavors!

Band Booster Concessions Tent
This past Friday, October 20th, the Band Booster Concessions Tent took in $914.50! (The change was from a few brownies that were sold). This figure is down a little from previous games and we feel it was because Daleville didn't have many on the visitor's side. But no frownie faces here! We are thrilled to bring in any amount! Thank you to all those that worked so hard Friday night. We couldn't have done it without you! Also, special thanks to Randy Porterfield, our peanut man. We know it takes many hours "behind the scenes" to prepare the peanuts and we appreciate your hard work and contribution to the ACA Band Program.

Little Big Horn Competition in Opp
We'd like to congratulate the ACA Band for scoring a " 1 " which is a "Superior" in this past Saturday's competition. The Band also won a trophies for "Most Entertaining Band" and "Best Solo Performances". Our Color Guard and Percussion walked away with "Best In Class" as well. Great job, kids! Your hard work paid off!

Booster Membership Drive

Now that marching season is coming to an end, we are going to focus on our Booster Memberships. We have 119 Band Families with only about 55 families contributing to the Boosters. That's only 46%. The ACA Band program operates primarily on money raised by the Boosters. We would love 100% participation by the end of December! We have several that give $10 a month, and there are others that have given a lump sum. Whichever you prefer, we appreciate any contribution to the Boosters and Band Program! Will you consider joining by the end of this year? If you'd like more information, please email acabands@yahoo.com or traceykirksey@knology.net.
Rehearsals this Week
There will be NO after school rehearsals this week! Band will continue to rehearse during 7th period, but not after school. Enjoy the time off!

Rehearsal for 6th & 7th Grade Bands

6th and 7th grade Bands will need to stay after school on Thursday, October 5th, until 4:00 p.m. to practice for Homecoming. The attire for Friday night's game is either the band t-shirt or maroon school polo and khaki shorts, pants or skirts. 6th and 7th grade band members will need to go into the stadium Friday night with the band and sit with the band until halftime is over.

If you have any questions, please email Mr. Harrell at eharrell@alabamachristian.com.

Concessions Tent from this past Friday!

First, let me say a huge "THANK YOU" to all who volunteered at the Band Booster Concessions Tent, from those who helped with set-up, to those who prepared the items to sell, worked the tent and helped with clean up! Quite a TEAM effort and we couldn't have done it without each of you! I am so proud of our Band parents working together!

It's almost impossible to keep an accurate count of exactly how many items were sold. This is due to some waste and some items being given away at the end of the game. I can tell you this, we took in $1057 in Boiled Peanuts and Funnel Cake sales! We also took in $387 in snocone and cookie sales!

Total money taken in for this past Friday night's concessions was $1,444!!! Isn't that awesome?!

We won't be selling snocones for the rest of the season, due to the change in the weather. However, we will be selling funnel cakes and various other sweet treats. The funnel cakes were a huge hit and we couldn't make them fast enough. We had 3 electric skillets, but could only use two because we kept tripping a breaker. If someone knows of a solution to this problem, please let us know. I'm not sure we could operate off a generator because of the noise. Any other suggestions would be welcomed!

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please email Gary or Tracey Kirksey at acabands@yahoo.com or traceykirksey@knology.net. We appreciate our band parents and love the ACA Band! Go Eagles!

Then you will be changing back into your uniform before the afternoon performance. The temperatures should be pretty cool Saturday evening, so it would be a good idea to have a sweatshirt or jacket with you too.

Details on performance times and directions to the stadium are available in a previous post. If you have any questions, please email Gary or Tracey Kirksey at acabands@yahoo.com or traceykirksey@knology.net.

Band Booster Concessions Tent
This week we will be selling some new items at the concessions tent. Mr. Randy Porterfield has graciously agreed to head up the boiled peanuts sale. We will need several parents to volunteer to sell these pre-packaged in the stands. We also will be selling funnel cakes and try to squeeze in one last night of selling snocones before the cooler weather hits! Mrs. Michele Hensley has organized 7th grade parents to work the first half of the game through half time, but we are still in need of Marching Band parents to work 3rd quarter through clean-up. If you would like to volunteer for any of the above mentioned, please email me at traceykirksey@knology.net or acabands@yahoo.com.
SHAKERS available this Friday!
Please stop by the Band Booster Concessions Tent to pick up your maroon & white rooter pom (shaker). If you have joined the Band Boosters, you are entitled to one free shaker per family. They will also be for sale for $2 each. Let's show our school spirit by getting the maroon & white shaking in the stands! Go EAGLES!
VIDEOGRAPHER still needed!
We know you're out there and you're wanting to volunteer for something, but don't know what! If you're not afraid of heights, and you would be willing to be the official ACA Band videographer, please contact Gary or Tracey Kirksey. We will provide the video camera--we just need the operator!
If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please don't hesitate to send us an email. We love our Band Boosters! Remember, Together We Achieve Much!
